Travel Times

• Lockhart - 20 minutes.
• Bastrop - 20 minutes.
• Luling - 20 mintues.
• Austin (downtown) - 45 minutes. Depending upon the time of day. Do yourself a favor and don't go at rush hour.
• Circuit of the Americas - 30 minutes.

Cities

While Austin is not very far away there are few communities a bit closer.

• Lockhart - The offical Barbecue Captial of Texas. Lockhart is the county seat of Caldwell county with a scenic courthouse square with shops & resturants around the square.
• • Driving time about 20 minutes.
  • First Friday every month! Downtown businesses stay open until 8:00 pm and offer complimentary snacks, beverages and shopping specials.
  • Farmers & Artisans Market of Lockhart every Saturday from 9:00am - 2:00pm
• Bastrop - Main Street is the heart of Bastrop's historic downtown. Shops & resturants abound.
• • Driving time about 20 minutes.
  • Bastrop 1832 Farmers Market every Saturday from 10:00am - 2:00pm
  • Getting on the Colorado River is also a possiblity in Bastrop. I've got my own canoe so I have no experience with either of these but you can rent water craft from Bastrop Rriver Co and Rising Phoenix

Food

• Paw-Paws (Bastrop) If you're looking for fried catfish look no further this is your next stop. Paw-Paws
• Maxines (Bastrop) This is a good little cafe. If you go for breakfast ask for the hubcap, if you're brave enough. It's a pancake bigger than your face. Maxines
• Tough Cookie Bakery (Bastrop) This cool little place has a lot to offer and not just baked goods. You can also go there and just hang with a cup of coffee while working on your computer. Tough Cookie Bakery
• Neigbor's Kitchen & Yard (Bastrop) This place has cool decks over looking the Colorado River. Neigbor's Kitchen & Yard
• Little Trouble (Lockhart) Right off the square, go down some stairs into a little cavern. Man the food is good. They have a chef who is top-notch. Little Trouble
• Barbecue (Lockhart) Before I mention anything about BBQ I'm going to throw out a disclaimer. Saying BBQ is good in Texas is like telling someone what chili is. Lockhart, "The Barbecue Capital of Texas" as designated by 76th Texas Legislature, is loaded with BBQ joints. I'm going to throw out 2 that I go to and hopefully you'll like one or both. I'm sure I'll catch heat for not mentioning others.
• Smitty's (Lockhart) Right off the square this place is old school. Smitty's
• Terry Black's (Lockhart) Don't confuse this with Black's. I'll let you dig into the history between those two joints. Terry Black's
• Chaparral Coffee (Lockhart) Right on the square has some baked goods & sandwiches to go along with your coffee. Chaparral Coffee
• Lockhart's Daily Grind (Lockhart) A nice little drive-through not much bigger than an angus bull. Lockhart's Daily Grind
• Whizzerville Hall (McMahan) This place is definely worth checking out. McMahan is a bot closer than Lockhart headed in that same direction. When you see it you'll know why I mentioned it. Whizzerville Hall

Grocery Stores

• HEB is the go to grocery in this neck of the woods. The one in Bastrop is larger one with more stuff than you can shake a stick at. The one in Lockhart is smaller but probably has everything you'll need while your here.
